(BUCHA DISTRICT, UKRAINE) – Emergency electricity cuts were imposed in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast on Sunday, 18th October, with energy supplier DTEK confirming that standard outage schedules no longer apply for affected residents .
The restrictions were ordered by Ukrenergo, Ukraine’s state transmission system operator, DTEK Group said in a statement on its official Telegram channel. The company said the emergency measure affects the Bucha district specifically, while residents in other areas of the Kyiv region remain subject to stabilisation schedules where applicable .
During emergency outages, published hourly schedules are suspended entirely, DTEK said. The company added that it will notify residents of any changes through its Telegram channel .
The power cuts follow a period of heightened pressure on Ukraine’s energy system. Ukrenergo imposed restriction measures across the country on Sunday, with emergency cuts also reported in other regions. On Saturday, 17th October, Russian forces attacked energy infrastructure in ten oblasts, prompting the use of hourly outage schedules in several regions and capacity limitation measures for industry and business nationwide .
The National Bank of Ukraine set the official dollar rate at UAH 44.8871 ($1) for 18th October . The hryvnia has remained under pressure amid the sustained energy disruptions, though the central bank has kept the official rate relatively stable in recent sessions.
DTEK did not specify how many customers were disconnected or how long the emergency restrictions would remain in force. The company said further updates would be issued as the situation develop.
