Ukraine Imposes Nationwide Power Limits on Sunday

(KYIV, UKRAINE) – Power restriction measures will apply across all regions of Ukraine on Sunday, 18th October, state grid operator Ukrenergo said, as the energy system continues to recover from sustained Russian strikes.

Capacity limitation schedules for industry and business will be in force nationwide from 06:00 to 23:59, Ukrenergo said in a statement on Facebook. Hourly outage schedules for all categories of consumers will also apply in a number of regions during the same window, with restrictions set at between 0.5 and 1.5 queues .

The restrictions follow heavy Russian attacks on energy facilities. Ukrenergo said the situation in the power system may change as a result of the strikes, and that regional distribution system operators will publish current information, including outage schedules, on their social media pages .

Residents were urged to use electricity sparingly during periods when supply is available under the schedules .

Between 19:00 on 16th October and the morning of Saturday, 17th October, Russian forces launched more than 320 drones of various types, as well as loitering munitions, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, at Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
