Putin Seeks Trump and Xi Summit on Ukraine War

Putin Proposes Ukraine Summit with Trump and Xi

(MOSCOW) – Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has proposed a summit with US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping next month to discuss a possible deal on Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cited sources familiar with the discussions.

The proposed meeting would seek an agreement to end the four year war on terms that would benefit Moscow, the newspaper reported.

The proposal comes amid improving relations between Trump and Putin, a development that has raised concerns in Ukraine and among its allies in Washington and Europe, according to the report.

A summit involving the three leaders without Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would be unprecedented and could trigger alarm across European capitals, the newspaper said.

The proposal raises questions about whether decisions affecting Ukraine’s future could be discussed without Kyiv’s direct participation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on 17th October that the United States was working on a meeting with Putin, according to a separate report by UNN.
